One of Williams' hobbies was photography.  As a child of 5 I remember spending hours in the garden posing for Daddy.  The photo above is one example. I believe he used a Leica camera which looked like this. In retirement he re-visited this hobby and joined a camera club.

Boats

Daddy-on-Canal-Holiday.jpg

William loved boats.  This photo was taken from one of many canal boat holidays. The crew was well trained.  His daughters operating the locks and William at the helm. Operating the locks can be tricky.  When you are opening the gates you need to make sure you are the right side of the gate, otherwise you will end up dangling over the canal (Susan? - thank goodness your sister was there to save you xx)

He also loved sailing on Clatworthy Reservoir.  He had a Mirror dinghy to start with. He would insist that my sister (aged 3) and I (aged 5) would sail out a short distance come about and return, whilst he stood on the shore with the safety boat on hand. Character building, he would say.  Each week my sister and I would try to escape by hiding in the woods, but never to any avail. Later he built his own solo dinghy which he sailed on Wimbleball Reservoir. I had a Laser and my sister a Topper.

weddings

A very special memory for me.  Dare I say William was a proud father.  I remember at the point he had to give me away, he wouldn't let go of my hand.

Of course he was also very proud of his other daughter Susan.  Here he is on her wedding day.

ITALIAN DESIGNER COAT

Even aged 91 years old, his love for Peggy never wained. Just look how proud he looks.  Doesn't Peggy look amazing in her brand new Italian designer coat.  Super warm as well.
