FRIENDS memories

JONATHAN DEnovAN-SMITH

I know that William and Peggy were very fond of Jonathan during their time at Fremantle.  Jonathan helped them a lot with the landscaping of the garden. William was very proud of his garden.

Jonathan's tribute: "A remarkable man who knew his own mind and had an indomitable spirit. I always enjoyed carrying out the few jobs I did for him, he had clear vision of what he wanted and was always appreciative of the work done. A gentle private man who clearly loved his wife, family and dogs."

The photo was taken on 9th April 2020, the day of the funeral and features grand-daughter Rosie sitting in the beautiful garden.

RACHEL BROWN

Rachel was a close friend of William's grand-daughter Rosie.  Tragically she passed away the day before William's funeral. She was cycling in London and was killed instantly when she was hit by a car. She was only 25 years old.

I can't help feeling that William's spirit is still with us and I feel sure that he will be looking out for Rachel.

I was so amazed to learn just recently that Rachel was mad about helicopters.  William will love to chat about them, as he worked for Westland Helicopters for most of his life and was involved in the design of the Gazelle.  What a coincidence!

Maybe Rachel will keep an eye on William as well.
